All About Salt!

Did you know there are all different types of salt? And each salt has a different cooking benefit?

Why did we choose these four for our blended salt rub? Because we took into consideration the flakiness, the flavor, the saltiness, & the texture of each one. We combined these four salts to be the perfect combination for your Hilltop beef or pork recipe! We also think it's delicious when used on veggies, fish & salad dressings.

Here are the four delicious salts we chose specifically for cooking & finishing. Kosher salt, Sea salt, Himalayan salt, & French Grey salt. We'll explain why we chose each one.
Kosher Salt - Kosher salt is known for its versatility. It can be used during any phase of cooking. It’s large flakes make it a delicious choice for all recipes. 
Sea Salt - Maldon sea salt is our favorite brand! It is harvested in England and is known for its superb flakiness. It's sometimes hard to get but well worth the wait!
Himalayan Pink Salt - has a slightly different flavor compared to regular table salt. It has a milder, less intense taste and may have subtle mineral undertones. It is often coarser than table salt, meaning the crystals are larger. It is the perfect selection for finishing your favorite dish.
French grey salt -Excellent for seasoning meats and potatoes. French grey salt is an excellent choice for cooking and the perfect everyday salt for seasoning. It adds full, rich flavor to all foods. French grey salt usually comes from the coast of France. It has a light grey color that comes from the minerals that are absorbed in the clay lining of the salt ponds. This salt retains all the minerals found in the sea and is full of magnesium, iron, calcium, potassium, manganese, zinc and iodine- all needed in our bodies as well. It is known to be slightly moist and chunky in texture.
